The Football Fans Census offers an unpaid work experience programme for graduates.
Based in our Central London office, the work experience programme provides an excellent opportunity for interns to gain practical research and media experience and develop a working insight into the football industry.
The FFC work experience programme aims to involve successful candidates in a wide variety of Football Fans Census activities. We are looking for undergraduates and recent graduates of any discipline who have are passionate about football and want to gain valuable research or media experience.
The following are current work experience vacancies. We also welcome speculative applications throughout the year.
Research Assistants
As a key member of our small team will have an opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of activities, your responsibilities are likely to include:
- Field research activity
- Report writing and analysis
- Desk based research, creating statistics on the football industry
- Desk based research and database management of FFC media and football industry contacts
- Helping building FFC membership, helping inform FFC membership
- Producing press updates for the Football Fans Census
- New ideas Interns are highly valued for their new ideas and angles on existing projects that they bring.
- Office administration - all interns are expected to help with the day-to-day working of the office, assisting with such basic tasks as mail-outs, photocopying and answering the telephone
Specific qualities that we are looking for:
- A passion interest in football, the football industry and football’s role in society
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
- The ability to present information and ideas clearly
- Experience of online communities and creating / managing websites
- The ability to work both individually and within a team on internet, field and phone based research tasks
- Experience of having undertaken independent research would be beneficial
- Must be prepared to bring your own laptop to work

Will I be paid?
Unfortunately, we are only able to offer unpaid work experience, however we are able to reimburse your travel and lunch costs up to £70 per week.
Can I get time off?
As long as you give us advance notice, you will be allowed time off to attend interviews or appointments.
How long is a placement?
The typical placement is ten weeks and you must be able to work for a minimum of two weeks. We will consider flexible working hours and remote working for exceptional candidates.
Where are you based?
We are located in Central London, just behind Great Portland Street and a short distance from Oxford Street, Soho and the West End. Our address is Football Fans Census, The Media Centre, 19 Bolsover Street, London, W1W 5NA. Our nearest tube stations are Oxford Circus and Great Portland Street, Euston and Kings Cross mainline stations are a short walk away.
