The Football Fans Census: The Way Forward? (1,378 respondents)
In light of the Football League's failed court case against Carlton and Granada and the launch of a new national campaigning fans organisation called the Football Supporters Federation, the FFU asked its members about the future of the 'Can the Commercials' campaign and the future direction of the organisation itself. More Poll questions and results Overview: The highest split in an FFU poll to date was over the issue
of whether there should be a single fans organisation or not. A strong
majority of 82% backed the idea of a single organisation but a vocal minority
felt there was a risk in certain issues being lost and that a single organisation
could not possibly reflect and campaign on the diverse views of fans. The other results contained less conjecture. Support for Can the Commercials
remained extremely strong with 95% pledging to back it even if it was
run by another organisation. The new proposed direction of the FFU was
very strongly supported with 93% of fans saying there was a need for an
independent fans research organisation and a massive 98% willing to take
part in an ongoing census. 1. Which statement do you most agree with? The more organisations that represent football supporters the better
2. Would you continue to support the CtC campaign if it was run by another organisation?
3. Do you think there should be an independent organisation dedicated
to researching and communicating what the fans think?
4. Would you be willing to participate in an ongoing census of football
fans?
