Derby County's Pride Park stadium could host the under-21s European Championship if England are successful in their bid to stage the 2013 edition of the contest.
The Daily Telegraph noted that England has never hosted the competition and must present a more impressive application than Israel, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic to secure the prestigious tournament.
Along with Derby County's home, the stadiums of Premiership side Birmingham and lower league clubs Chesterfield, Nottingham Forest, Notts County and Shrewsbury would be the host facilities if the country wins.
"The Football Association [is] this week showing UEFA delegates around the five midlands locations, as well as Birmingham, as they conduct a technical inspection," the publication noted.
Among the issues being looked into are transport arrangements and accommodation close to each stadium.
Recently, it was announced that Sweden will host the women's European Championship in 2013, beating The Netherlands to land the honour.
Qualification for the contest begins next year.
