Tottenham Hotspur are looking into the possibility of bulldozing the new Olympic stadium in Stratford and replacing it with their blueprint for the redevelopment of White Hart Lane, it has been claimed.
According to a report on Goal.com, the English Premier League football club could also pay for the renovation of the National Sports Stadium at Crystal Palace construction of an athletics venue to obtain the go-ahead for the scheme.
"Bidding for the long-term lease of the Olympic Stadium is now closed and the Olympic Park Legacy Company will review the bids over the coming weeks," a spokesperson stated.
The news source claims Tottenham Hotspur are tempted to make the switch to south London because White Hart Lane is likely to fetch a high price if sold to property developers and the new stadium will enjoy good transport links.
However, the idea has proved controversial and Tottenham MP David Lammy warned earlier this month that the club's football fans would "never forgive" any decision to move away from their traditional home.
