Football fans at Liverpool are highly suspicious of the motives of the American consortium looking to take control at Anfield, according to Rogan Taylor of supporters' group ShareLiverpoolFC.
Speaking to the Independent, Taylor - who founded the organisation - explained that Liverpool followers are worried New England Sports Ventures' (NESV) success in US baseball may not translate into a winning strategy for English football.
"I would imagine that there is deep concern among Liverpool fans," he told the newspaper. "Liverpool is not an American sports franchise. Anybody who comes along is going to be forensically interrogated."
Taylor added that Liverpool supporters have been "royally screwed" by current owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks and warned NESV it faces a frosty reception until it proves it is acting in the club's best interests.
Yesterday (October 6th 2010), Sporting Intelligence reported that NESV is as yet uncommitted to providing a new stadium for the Merseyside outfit and could look into the possibility of redeveloping Anfield.
