Football fans at League One club Swindon Town have given their backing to a plan which will see the team's County Ground given a radical makeover.
According to the Swindon Advertiser, the stadium's capacity will be extended and a new roof will be installed as part of proposals for a £20 million overhaul recently submitted by design firm Frank Whittle Partnership.
"I think long-term fans have been looking forward to potential ground improvements for many years now," said Swindon Town Supporters' Club spokesman Nigel Bennett. "It will have a really good impact on the area."
He added that a majority of Swindon Town followers are likely to prefer redeveloping the County Ground rather than moving to a newly-constructed venue and expressed hopes that the wider community will support the redevelopment.
Last week, the Press and Journal reported that Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen's scheme to build a new stadium at Loirston Loch had attracted more than 150 objections.
