Olympic stadium deadline approaches

Football Clubs News | Football Technology and Stadia

Parties looking to submit bids for the tenancy of London's Olympic Stadium have until midday today (September 30th 2010) to do so, it has been revealed.

English Premier League football club West Ham United and entertainment group AEG - which is responsible for the O2 Arena in Greenwich - are believed to be among the front runners, although it is unclear how many bidders there are.

The Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC) is responsible for finding an appropriate use for the Stratford Venue and prospective occupiers have had six weeks to make an offer, with a final decision expected to be made next March, according to BBC News.

"We will take time to review the bids and we shall make an announcement in due course," a spokesperson for the OPLC told the news provider.

Rival club Tottenham Hotspur also expressed a tentative interest in occupying the stadium, but it appears to have fizzled out as they would need to leave their traditional north London home.
