Cheshire-based student Thomas Lever has revealed that he is waiting in the wings to make a bid for Championship football club Portsmouth once Balram Chainrai's takeover goes through.

According to the Portsmouth News, the side remain in administration after the Football League did not receive the necessary paperwork to approve Chainrai's proposal and Lever claims he is still in the process of securing financial backing.

The 21-year-old, who appeared in MTV's reality series Living on the Edge in 2007, told the newspaper he expects to be ready to submit an offer once Chainrai assumes the reins at Fratton Park.

Administrator Andrew Andronikou has already expressed grave reservations about Lever's suitability to own a football club and last week advised Portsmouth's board of directors to give their backing to Hong Kong businessman Chainrai.

Last month, Portsmouth won a crucial High Court case against a winding-up petition issued by HM Revenue and Customs, which has been attempting to crack down on indebted teams in recent months.
