Rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z has stated his ambition to buy a share of Arsenal and could be preparing to launch a bid for Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith's holding in the English Premier League football club.

The 40-year-old - real name Shawn Carter - was believed to be taking an interest in the north London side back in 2005 and recently said he could be prepared to move to the English capital if he joins the Arsenal board of directors.

"We would have to spend much more time in London. [Wife Beyonce] knows how much I love sports and has known about my interest in Arsenal for a while," he explained. "I want to be on the board, involved in the decision-making."

Besides his possible attempt to acquire a stake in Arsenal, Jay-Z is known for his involvement in several business ventures and sold his Rocawear clothing brand for $204 million (£131.95 million) three years ago.

Fellow rapper Diddy - formerly known as Puff Daddy - was linked with a takeover at Crystal Palace towards the end of last season.
