Manchester United have entered into a new partnership with a Hong Kong telecoms firm, as the English Premier League football club seeks to increase its presence in south-east Asia.
For the next three years, PCCW will carry the team's MUTV channel in Hong Kong and has also acquired exclusive rights to MUTV Online and MU Mobile, with press conferences, matchday build-up and analysis to be made available.
However, Manchester United's commercial director Richard Arnold dismissed suggestions the club could be set to attempt a breakaway from its English Premier League rivals and negotiate individual broadcasting deals.
"We continue to support the collective bargaining because it makes the [English Premier League] incredibly competitive," he said. "But there are other rights that centre around the club and players."
The news comes after a challenging summer for Manchester United, in which the Old Trafford side failed to meet their season ticket sales target and the Glazer family's US business hit financial difficulty.
