Celtic chairman Dermot Desmond has claimed it is merely a matter of time before the Glaswegian Old Firm join the English Premier League and believes media interests will eventually seal the deal.

"What will dictate them joining is the fans and the media companies. The companies are directing [English Premier League] policy and they'll decide it'll be a good thing if the pair joined," he said.
The Irishman, who is believed to be worth around £1.5 billion, called on footballing authorities to introduce a Europe-wide cap on wage spending and warned some football clubs could be driven out of business unless restrictions are imposed.
Last October, Rangers chief executive Martin Bain expressed his belief that both Glasgow sides will leave the Scottish Premier League within a decade.
