A scheme which would see Arsenal football fans increase their stake in the north London club has received the backing of their four largest shareholders, according to a report.
An article in the Daily Telegraph claimed Alisher Usmanov, Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith, Danny Fiszman and largest stakeholder Stan Kroenke have all lent their support to the Arsenal Supporters' Trust "Fanshare" initiative.
"At Arsenal, the idea of custodianship is central to the club's unique character. Custodianship is our responsibility as Arsenal fans to look after the club's values and spirit," said a spokesman for the fans' group.
The fact all four of the leading directors have made no attempt to block the programme - which would allow supporters to pay around £10 a month to purchase a fraction of a share - suggests Kroenke and Usmanov are not preparing a takeover bid.
Earlier this month, the Arsenal Supporters' Trust published the results from a membership survey conducted in February, which found 63 per cent backed the current model of plural ownership.
