Liverpool 'in no rush' over buyout

English Premier League football club Liverpool - currently the subject of takeover interest from several interested parties - will not be rushed into any final decision on a deal, according to managing director Christian Purslow.

In an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live's Sportsweek, Purslow suggested that debtors RBS will take time to "sort the wheat from the chaff" and refused to elaborate further on which bid is favoured by the board of directors.

"We will make sure we take our time," he explained. "We have just received some written bids at this stage and it would be wrong to characterise anybody as a front-runner."

Purslow added that any new owner will be expected to bring "significant improvement" to the team's fortunes on the pitch, after missing out on UEFA Champions League qualification last season.

Among the bidders are Syrian tycoon Yahya Kirdi and Chinese sports entrepreneur Kenny Huang, although a consortium of Indian businessmen withdrew from discussions last week.
