Senior figures from Cardiff City and Swansea City have accused Nottingham Forest chief executive Mark Arthur of attempting to unsettle players in a bid to prise them away from their current football clubs.
According to BBC Sport, Arthur has claimed in recent weeks that Cardiff City winger Peter Whittingham and Swansea City midfielder Darren Pratley want to move to the City Ground, something which has angered the latter club's chairman.
"It is not right, it is not within the rules and laws of the game," Huw Jenkins said. "I think we should look at it a bit further. Perhaps ourselves and [Cardiff City] can team up and protect our clubs a little bit."
Cardiff City manager Dave Jones agreed with Jenkins' assessment, describing it as "blatant tapping up" and calling on Football League bosses to investigate the matter further.
Jones' comments came after the South Wales Echo reported that his chairman Dato Chan Tien Ghee flew to south Wales to reassure staff that investment in the playing squad will be forthcoming.
