English Premier League side Fulham have demanded that English Premier League chairman Sir Dave Richards resign from his post over his involvement in a transfer deal last summer.
In a recent e-mail obtained by the Guardian, the division's chief executive Richard Scudamore confirmed that the London club are taking action over Richards' involvement in the transfer of striker Peter Crouch from Portsmouth to Tottenham Hotspur.
"The [internal] inquiry concluded the chairman's actions had not been detrimental to Fulham and that it was not inappropriate for the chairman to assist in such matters when requested to do so by a club," Scudamore explained.
Fulham believe that Richards' 11th-hour intervention scuppered an £11 million deal which would have seen Crouch head to Craven Cottage, with the former Liverpool player eventually opting to join Tottenham Hotspur for £2 million less.
Last week, the newspaper reported that Richards' influence at the FA had become "severely restrained" due to concerns over potential conflicts of interest.
