Scottish Premier League football fans have been told to stop harking back to past glories and concentrate on the next generation of native talent to help shake the game out of its current rut.

In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, new SFA chief executive Stewart Regan urged supporters and football clubs alike to "draw a line in the sand" and help drive Scottish football forward.

"Scotland spends too much time looking back the way at how fantastic they were in years gone by. As a country it doesn't focus on the future and what we need to do to get better," he told the newspaper.

Regan suggested he could look to follow the example of the English Championship, which has enjoyed a boom in attendance numbers over recent years and is the fourth most-followed division in Europe.

Last month, it was revealed that the Scottish Premier League could move some fixtures to a new kick-off time of 19:30 BST next season.
