West Ham United 'confident over Olympic stadium'

West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady has claimed the east London side would be the "logical" occupants of the capital's Olympic stadium once the Games have ended in two years' time.

Speaking to BBC London, Brady dismissed suggestions that Tottenham Hotspur could move into the new ground if Haringey Council continues to block the planned overhaul of White Hart Lane.

"[Tottenham Hotspur] have categorically denied that they have had any talks or interest," she said. "If they were interested, it would be so far away from their natural home that it will be very difficult for them to justify the move."

Brady added that entertainment group AEG, which already owns the multi-purpose O2 Arena and is also interested in the Olympic stadium, would prefer to have West Ham United as tenants.

It had been anticipated that the capacity of the venue would be reduced to 25,000 after the event, but West Ham United hope to develop it into a 60,000-seater football ground.
