Luton Town are set to take on Marlow this evening (July 22nd) in a game that is no ordinary pre-season fixture.
The Hatters will travel to the Buckinghamshire town for a match that commemorates the club's 125th anniversary, as Marlow were their first ever opponents back in 1885.
Formed through a merger of local sides The Wanderers and The Excelsiors, Luton Town were defeated 3-0 in the FA Cup clash that marked their first competitive outing.
The Bedfordshire outfit became the first football team in southern England to turn professional in 1890 and moved to their current home at Kenilworth Road 15 years later.
Luton Town have endured a turbulent period in recent years, dropping out of the Football League after going into administration, despite beating Scunthorpe United to win the Johnstone's Paint Trophy in 2009.
According to the club's website, Hatters fans attending the match at Marlow's Oak Tree Road ground should expect "a surprise that will leave them tickled pink".
