Leicester City rebut sale reports

Recently-promoted championship football club Leicester City have fiercely denied recent reports that chairman Milan Mandaric has reached an agreement to sell his holding in the Midlands outfit.

Despite newspaper suggestions earlier in the week that the Serbian tycoon had opted to transfer his ownership of the side to a group of tycoons from Thailand, Leicester City insist he still aims to retain his interest next season if no offers are received.

"Discussions have taken place with a number of interested parties but no agreement has been reached," the club said in a statement. "Milan Mandaric has always maintained that he would welcome the right partner."

Leicester City's football fans were assured that they will be "the first to know" if any concrete bids are received before the new term gets underway next month.

Earlier this week, Mandaric denied in an interview with BBC Radio Leicester that a bust-up with former boss Nigel Pearson had forced the manager out of the Walkers Stadium hotseat.
