Middlesbrough to sell monthly football sponsorship deals

Championship football club Middlesbrough have announced that they will carry a different football sponsorship logo on their shirts for each month next season.

The Yorkshire outfit admitted that they could not agree a yearly deal that would bring in sufficient revenue and so have decided to take the unique alternative approach, which is believed to be the first example of its kind in football.

"We are all genuinely excited in taking this new approach to the market. Sponsorship in football is long established now, but this will definitely offer something different," said chief operating officer Neil Bausor.

Middlesbrough's football fans will also be given the chance to purchase shirts without any sponsor's logos, but will be given the option of adding one of the monthly emblems to their replica if they wish to do so.

English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur announced last week that they will have separate sponsors for league fixtures and cup ties from next season.
