League Two football club Chesterfield have been handed the keys to their new multi-million pound home by the construction firm in charge of the project.

Ownership of the B2net stadium in Whittington Moor was formally transferred from GB Building Solutions on Monday (July 5th 2010), allowing Chesterfield to tie up any remaining loose ends before the start of the new season.

"This is another key milestone for the club and one which means everyone's dream of moving into a new football stadium is about to be realised very soon," chief executive Carol Wilby said.

It is hoped that the Derbyshire side's off-field operations will be completely transferred from their current Saltergate home by next week. The new ground, which is an all-seater facility, will hold a capacity of 10,300 football fans.

Chesterfield supporters bade farewell to Saltergate with a 2-1 win against Bournemouth last season.
