Telecoms giant BT has revealed that it will screen English Premier League matches from next season after reaching agreement with broadcaster Sky.

Two Sky Sports channels will be carried on the BTVision service, following Ofcom's decision to order Sky to reduce the wholesale prices it charges rival platforms for Sky Sports 1 and 2 earlier in the year.

Michael Phillips of Digitalchoices.co.uk told BBC News: "This is another exciting development for football fans which has also recently seen Virgin Media lower the pricing of its Sky Sports packages."

BTVision subscribers will be able to view the two channels from August 1st 2010, in time for the start of the new English Premier League season on August 14th, although the service provider is yet to announce how much it will charge.

Earlier this month, figures released by research firm Deloitte showed England's top flight was overtaken by Germany's Bundesliga last term to become the world's most profitable division.
