Long-suffering Stockport County football fans have been told by the club's new owners that significant changes are on the way at Edgeley Park, after a difficult season which saw them teeter on the brink of insolvency.
A group of businesspeople known as the 2015 Group finally assumed control of the club last week and the consortium has wasted no time in setting out its vision for the troubled League Two side's immediate future.
"My fellow directors and I do not underestimate the very difficult job we have, both on and off the pitch, to stabilise and then energise the club over the coming season," new chairman Alwin Thompson explained in a statement.
Stockport County's average attendance dropped by 2,000 last season and Mr Thompson added that the directors' "immediate intention" is to encourage members of the local community to return to the fold.
In April, former Manchester City striker Jim Melrose's takeover bid for Stockport County was blocked by the Football League, which cited concerns over his proposed ownership structure.
