American rapper and multi-millionaire Sean 'Diddy' Combs has revealed his initial interest in Championship football club Crystal Palace was genuine, but that he felt the opportunity came at the wrong time.
Speaking to the BBC, the New York-born entertainer explained that an associate of his had considered the implications of a potential takeover bid, but that it "wasn't the right business move for [him] at the time".
"I'm always looking into different business ventures and it's definitely one of my dreams one day to be a part of a sports franchise, especially a football team," Combs added.
The 40-year-old, who is believed to be worth more than £240 million, said he is "into winning" and suggested he would be open to future involvement in the sport if he could "build the right team".
Crystal Palace were under serious threat of liquidation earlier this month, but an 11th-hour deal was reached with the CPFC 2010 consortium to purchase the south London outfit and their Selhurst Park home.
