Middle Eastern investment group Ras al Khaimah (RAK) has dismissed speculation linking it with a possible move for English Premier League football club Liverpool.
With unrest among the side's football fans growing and unpopular owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks actively seeking to sell up, reports had suggested the United Arab Emirates-based consortium was considering making an offer.
According to Bloomberg, RAK representative Khater Massaad said in an interview: "We are not in football clubs. We don't have enough money and we are not really in this business."
The news came after Liverpool announced a seven per cent increase in ticket prices, despite their disappointing showing on the field last season and their failure to secure UEFA Champions League football.
Season tickets in the Kop will cost £680 next term, while seats in the main stand will be priced at £732. A spokesman for the club contrasted their costs favourably with those of their top-flight rivals and claimed they remain "extraordinarily competitive".
