Liverpool announce season ticket price hike

Football Clubs News | Football Finance News

Liverpool have confirmed they will increase season ticket prices by as much as seven per cent next season, despite mounting anger among football fans at the ownership of Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

Supporters who apply online will be able to purchase a ticket in the Kop for £680, while main stand seats are priced at £732, but the English Premier League club insist the climb is solely due to a rise in VAT.

A spokesman defended the announcement, saying: "Our season ticket prices remain extraordinarily competitive, particularly compared with other clubs in the top half of the table."

Liverpool followers, who have become increasingly vocal in their opposition to Gillett and Hicks over the last few months, appear unlikely to be placated by the comments coming from the Anfield hierarchy.

Yesterday (June 8th), fans' group ShareLiverpoolFC claimed it has acquired the funds necessary to underwrite a share issue, which it intends to stage later this year.
