FA seeks assurances after football fans injured

The FA has moved to reassure fans that England's final FIFA World Cup warm-up match will be safe to attend, after supporters at another game in South Africa were caught in a stampede.

Nigeria's meeting with North Korea was marred by injuries to 15 people after ticketless football fans attempted to gain entry, but English football's governing body has held talks to ensure the Moruleng Stadium is fit to host England's game against the Platinum Stars today (June 7th).

"Safety and security comes first," an FA spokesman said. "We have met stadium management and we are in contact with the local organising committee to ensure the appropriate measures are in place."

Although Moruleng has a capacity of 20,000, only 12,000 supporters will be allowed into the ground to watch the match.

The news came after UK minister for crime prevention James Brokenshire told England fans to "do their country proud" at this summer's showpiece event.
