Arsenal football fans urge caution

A fans' group has urged outgoing Arsenal director Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith to consider the long-term implications for the club when selling her stake.

Bracewell-Smith currently owns a 15.9 per cent holding in the north London outfit, but is understood to be looking to sell up and a number of potential suitors are believed to be interested.

Speaking to the Telegraph, a spokesman for the Arsenal Supporters' Trust said: "We would continue to urge Lady Bracewell-Smith to make the custodianship of Arsenal an important factor in her considerations."

Earlier this year, Bracewell-Smith appointed financial brokers Blackstone to help find a buyer for her Arsenal shares, but American sports tycoon Stan Kroenke has so far been unwilling to meet their asking price of £15,000 per share.

Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote has become the latest potential owner to declare his interest in buying the club, with reports over the weekend suggesting he has approached Blackstone about purchasing Bracewell-Smith's stake.
