Drinks giant Coca-Cola has signed two new three-year agreements with the Scottish Premier League and English Football League, after its status as title sponsor to England's non-top flight divisions expired.
The company, which had backed the Football League since 2004, will be replaced as principal backer by energy firm Npower from next season, but is instead set to become an official footballing partner on both sides of the border.
Speaking to BBC News, the Football League's commercial director Stewart Thompson said he is "delighted" at the new arrangement, adding: "During six years as our title sponsor, Coca-Cola has made an exceptional contribution to our competition."
His sentiments were echoed by Scottish Premier League boss Neil Doncaster, who described the refreshments firm as an "iconic brand".
The news came after the Football League revealed over 17 million football fans attended its 1,656 matches last season - the highest attendance in 50 years - with the Championship retaining its spot as Europe's fourth most-watched division.
