English Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore has accepted that the division's fit and proper persons test for club ownership is "limited", it has been claimed.
Scudamore made the admission during a meeting with Liverpool supporters' group Spirit of Shankly (SoS) this week, as well as accepting that the current insolvency test is also in need of an overhaul, according to the organisation's website.
In a statement, SoS said: "Mr Scudamore gave a polite and positive hearing to the concerns and clarified a number of points about Liverpool FC, while at the same time having to observe confidentiality."
However, Scudamore dismissed suggestions that top flight football fans could purchase stakes in their clubs, informing SoS that such measures would be "firstly unlikely and secondly impractical".
Scudamore's comments came after Aberdeen stakeholder Jim Cummings called for the Pittodrie outfit to adopt a supporter-led ownership model similar to that of Spanish champions Barcelona.
