Manchester United supporters can play a "key role" in the removal of the club's widely unpopular owners, according to the chief executive of a fans' group.
Duncan Drasdo of the Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) believes recent suggestions by sources close to the Glazer family that bids of around £1.5 billion were rejected last year will further aggravate followers of the Old Trafford side.
Speaking to the Guardian, Drasdo warned: "This is going to increase the protests if they are serious about still being here at the start of next season. This is not going away."
He also slammed the Americans for their "smugness" after comments that the Glazers had no need to sell "the best house on the hill" last week, which Drasdo claimed will "disgust" fans who have been forced to endure repeated ticket price hikes since the Red Devils' leveraged buyout in 2005.
Drasdo's sentiments were echoed by the Independent Manchester United Supporters Association, which denounced the owners for treating "all fans with contempt".
