Manchester United accused of suppressing protest

Manchester United stewards have been accused of denying entry to supporters they felt could stage further demonstrations against the unpopular Glazer regime.

According to the Independent Manchester United Supporters Association (IMUSA), employees of security contractors CES refused to allow some fans inside Old Trafford for the reserve play-off final against Aston Villa yesterday (May 3rd).

In a statement, IMUSA says: "Many fans were prevented from seeing [Manchester United's] victory as large groups of CES - who were again not showing their badges - stopped people in their twos and threes from gaining entry."

The organisation also claims CES workers have ejected supporters on "trumped-up accusations" and even suggested a police intelligence officer simply refused to offer a reason as to why some fans had been removed from the stadium.

Last week, chief executive David Gill commented that manager Sir Alex Ferguson will be given money to invest in the squad over the summer, despite mounting concerns over the club's estimated £700 million debt.
