Rangers fans' representative blasts Murray

Football Clubs News | Football Supporters News

Rangers Supporters' Trust spokesman David Edgar has slammed majority shareholder Sir David Murray for his running of the Ibrox club.

Despite sealing their second consecutive league title with a victory at Hibernian over the weekend, Rangers are saddled with an estimated debt of £30 million and Edgar has laid the blame squarely at Murray's door.

He claimed Murray "gets away with a hell of a lot", adding: "Rangers' current situation is pathetic and it should never have been allowed to get anywhere near this."

Edgar reserved special praise for veteran manager Walter Smith, who he said had done "remarkably well" to steer his side to their Scottish Premier League triumph in spite of the financial restrictions imposed upon him.

It was reported last month that the Rangers Supporters' Trust were in the early stages of mounting their own bid for the club, but English property developer Andrew Ellis is still believed to be in talks with the side's board of directors.
