Administration 'not an option' for Hull City

Hull City chairman Adam Pearson has claimed the troubled Yorkshire club can survive its mounting debts.

The Tigers are all but relegated following last weekend's 1-0 defeat at home to Sunderland, but although Pearson admits that repayment of their arrears may have to be "restructured", he believes the side will not be dragged into administration.

He commented that Hull City will need to do "some serious trimming" to adjust to life in the Championship, adding: "We have to look at bringing the wage bill down and hopefully looking at doing some transfers as well."

Pearson declined to close the door on a return for former boss Phil Brown, placed on gardening leave last month to be replaced by former West Ham United striker Iain Dowie, whose own future remains unclear.

Last week, the chairman directed fierce criticism at his predecessor Paul Duffen, describing the former chief as "extremely short-sighted" and condemning his "poor business sense".
