Adam Pearson, chairman of relegation-threatened Hull City, has launched a fierce attack on former chief Paul Duffen.
Writing in his programme notes ahead of the side's clash with Aston Villa, Pearson suggested the Tigers' current woes were largely a result of Duffen's profligacy, claiming his predecessor lacked knowledge of both football and the club itself.
The current chairman slammed Duffen for his "poor business sense" and "lack of moral responsibility", adding: "The prospect of relegation should not need to be the doomsday scenario that everyone currently discusses and worries about."
Although Pearson did not confirm fears that relegation from the English Premier League will send Hull City into administration, he did admit Iain Dowie's team "desperately" need to avoid the drop.
With the side now in 18th place, three points from safety, their top-flight future appears to be under increasing threat. Present boss Dowie was given less than two months to avoid relegation when he replaced Phil Brown in March.
