Hull City and Wigan Athletic 'could face eviction'

The English Premier League is expected to discuss banning the dual use of playing surfaces in the English top flight, a move which could have repercussions for Hull City and Wigan Athletic.

Both clubs share their homes with local rugby league sides and officials have reportedly become concerned about the amount of activity on their pitches, fearing players of both sports may sustain serious injury as a result.

An English Premier League spokesman told the Daily Mail: "The overuse of grounds has become a perennial issue and the weather over the winter has made the problem more apparent."

However, both the Tigers and the Latics are expected to point out that Manchester United's Old Trafford has hosted Super League grand finals since 1998, while Wembley is a venue for rugby union games.

The two clubs are currently fighting relegation from the English Premier League, with Hull City one point behind West Ham United in 18th position and Roberto Martinez's team in 16th place.
