Scudamore to pass on Portsmouth dossier

Football Finance News

English Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore has said that his organisation will exchange information with the Football League if and when Portsmouth are relegated.

The Fratton Park club's widely-publicised financial woes have seen them docked nine points for entering administration, leaving them at the foot of the league table with just 13 points.

Mr Scudamore told the Telegraph that steps had been taken to prevent other clubs entering administration but added: "The only guarantee of it not happening is if we were to run every club."

He conceded that the disarray surrounding Portsmouth had "done some damage" to the English Premier League's image but pointed to Fulham as a successful example of individual club ownership.

Last week, Portsmouth were given special dispensation by the league to sell players outside of the transfer window in order to raise the emergency funds needed for getting the club out of administration.
