Manchester United announce season ticket price freeze

Season ticket prices at Old Trafford will not be increased for the 2010-11 campaign, Manchester United have announced.

Recent reports indicated that owners the Glazer family were considering another price hike, which would have been extremely unpopular with the large number of supporters already fiercely opposed to their regime.

However, a statement on the club website confirmed that the cost of watching the current English Premier League champions will remain the same next season, with season ticket holders paying between £27 and £49 per game.

Duncan Drasdo, chief executive of the Manchester United Supporters' Trust, described the price freeze as an "incredible victory" for his organisation, which is campaigning for a change of ownership at the club.

He told the BBC: "This clearly demonstrates the power supporters have when they come together as a unified group."

The 2010-11 campaign will be the first time ticket prices have not gone up during the Glazer era.

According to the Guardian, season ticket prices at Old Trafford have risen by 48 per cent on average since the Americans arrived at the club in 2005.
