League One's Wycombe Wanderers have agreed to collaborate with rugby union side London Wasps in the search for a new stadium site.
Wycombe District Council is also involved in the project, which will seek to finalise the location of a new community stadium for the use of both clubs, who currently share the Adams Park ground.
Finding and assessing potential sites is expected to take about 12 months, with £500,000 being invested in the project by the council and Wycombe Sports Developments, a specially-created company.
"We're looking at a number of sites in the Wycombe area," club owner Steve Hayes told BBC Three Counties Radio.
"We've secured a partnership and got a collaboration agreement in place It will take another year to say which is the ideal site."
Wycombe Wanderers have played at Adams Park since 1990 and Wasps became tenants at the 10,000-capacity ground in 2002.
The Buckinghamshire side are battling to avoid relegation from League One this season, with a 2-2 draw against Exeter City on Saturday (March 20th) leaving them eight points from safety in 23rd place.
