BSkyB has announced that it will televise the English Premier League clash between Manchester United and Chelsea match on April 3rd in 3D.
The broadcaster claims it will install special equipment in over 1,000 venues across Britain and Ireland to show the match, which could prove to be a crucial fixture in the title run-in.
Viewers will be given special glasses to watch the three-dimensional broadcast as Sky unveils its dedicated 3D satellite channel.
Sky director of product development Brian Lenz said: "It's fitting that one of the biggest games of the season will be the launch pad for our pioneering Sky 3D service."
It was also announced that Sky intends to use the new technology for at least five more Premier League games before the end of the season, in addition to the three Football League playoff final games at Wembley.
The first match to be aired in 3D was January's contest between Arsenal and Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium, which was shown at pubs in London, Manchester, Dublin, Edinburgh and Cardiff.
