Michel Platini has claimed that more match officials should be used to eradicate refereeing errors during games.
Speaking on the Italian entertainment show Chiambretti Night, the UEFA president said that he favours the "human option" over the use of technology to help the referee, the Associated Press reports.
"We should try to add a referee so they can see the entire field. Whether they make mistakes or not is another discussion," he commented.
Platini spoke about the issue during a discussion of France's highly controversial win over the Republic of Ireland in the World Cup qualifying playoff last November.
An undetected handball from Thierry Henry allowed France to qualify at the expense of a furious Irish team, which led to renewed calls for the introduction of video replays.
However, experiments with goal-line technology were effectively ruled out by FIFA following a meeting of the International FA Board in Zurich earlier this month.
FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke said after the meeting that "the main part of the game should be humans - players and referees".
