Old Trafford ticket prices 'set to rise again'

Manchester United are considering an increase in season ticket prices for the fifth time in as many years, according to a report.

The Guardian claims that club owners the Glazer family and the rest of the board of directors have discussed next season's prices with a view to introducing a further hike.

Andy Mitten, of fanzine United We Stand, wrote in the Manchester Evening News that any rise would be "commercial suicide" and added: "Fans have been priced out to the point that we are now seeing empty seats inside Old Trafford for league games."

This season has seen animosity towards Manchester United's current regime increasing, with a large number of match-going fans adopting green and gold scarves in a gesture of opposition. Green and gold were the colours of the club's forebears, Newton Heath.

It has been reported that the Red Knights consortium is set to offer an estimated £1.5 billion for control of the English Premier League champions.
