Talks between Liverpool and Everton football clubs, the local council, Liverpool University and the Northwest Development Agency (NWDA) are taking place today (March 1st) over the English Premier League teams' desire to build new stadiums.

The Liverpool Daily Post revealed that Robert Elstone and Christian Purslow, the chief executives at Everton and Liverpool respectively, will both attend the summit, which is expected to focus on the possibility of the university carrying out feasibility studies for the two sides.

Neither club would discuss the talks, but the NWDA's chief executive Steve Broomhead suggested that he thinks they are a good idea.

"We welcome the meeting - people are beginning to look at the opportunities again," he remarked.

"Both clubs need solutions, either singly or jointly."

At the end of last year, BBC Sport reported that it may not be long before work starts on Liverpool's proposed new stadium at Stanley Park, with Liverpool City Council leader Warren Bradley saying he hoped to see some activity in April.
