Work on a new 6,400-capacity stand at Easter Road is set to begin next week, Hibernian have confirmed.

The Scottish Premier League side announced that the ground's old East Terrance will be demolished after the home game against St Johnstone on Saturday (February 27th).

Chairman Rod Petrie claimed that the new stand will secure Easter Road's status as "one of the finest stadiums in Scotland".

He described the redevelopment, which will see the Edinburgh venue's capacity rise to 20,250 when it is completed early next season, as "an exciting milestone in the club's history".

Hibernian have announced that supporters will be given the opportunity to purchase seats from the old East Terrace for £10 each this week, with 50 per cent of the proceeds being donated to the Hibernian Community Foundation.

In addition, each East Terrace season ticket holder is set to receive a commemorative certificate signed by manager John Hughes next month.
