A new list of the 50 biggest salaries in football has been published by the Portuguese marketing agency Futebol Finance.
The chart reveals that Cristiano Ronaldo is the world's highest paid player, with the Real Madrid star currently receiving an annual salary of 13 million (£11.3 million).
Four of the top five players in the list currently ply their trade in Spain, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic (12 million), Lionel Messi (10.5 million) and Kaka (10 million) all feature in the upper reaches of the chart.
Manchester City's Emmanuel Adebayor is the highest-placed English Premier League player, ranking at number six with a yearly salary of 8.5 million, or 708,000 a month.
The striker's club team-mate Carlos Tevez features at number eight with an annual wage of 8 million, while the top ten is rounded off by Chelsea pair John Terry and Frank Lampard, who both earn 7.5 million a year.
Chelsea were revealed to be the biggest spenders in the English top flight, with seven of their players appearing in the top 50.
Figures such as Lord Alan Sugar have criticised clubs for overspending on wages recently, with the former Tottenham Hotspur chairman describing the inflated salaries paid by many top teams as "irresponsible".
