Everton chief executive Robert Elstone has said that the club remain committed to securing a site for a new stadium.
Plans to build a £400 million arena in Kirkby were rejected in November last year following a government inquiry, prompting the Merseyside outfit to consider other options.
Elstone said that discussions with local authorities and planning officials are ongoing, while the club have also decided to revisit the possibility of upgrading their current home.
"We've commissioned a fresh look at Goodison Park with a highly-recommended architect who had no involvement in Kirkby," he revealed.
The chief executive also suggested that improving economic conditions could work in the club's favour.
"We have to refresh our conclusions and look for new opportunities," Elstone added.
The prospect of a ground-share between Everton and Liverpool was briefly raised once again after the collapse of the Kirkby project.
However, neither club is thought to be particularly enthusiastic about the idea and Liverpool recently reiterated their commitment to building a new stadium in Stanley Park.
