A new application for Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) devices has been unveiled by Arsenal.

The English Premier League club will provide fans visiting the Emirates Stadium with a special disk for their PSPs, which will allow them to watch instant replays, access news and statistics and stream matches live via a wireless network.

Arsenal's marketing director Angus Kinnear suggested that such applications could play an increasingly important role in the way that football is viewed live in the coming years.

"I believe that this is the future of how fans want to digest the football they watch," he remarked. "As a club we want to be driving supporter services."

The PSP service - which will only be available inside the north London stadium - follows the recent launch of an Arsenal application for the Apple iPhone.

Priced at £2.99, it gives fans access to team data and exclusive video interviews for the first eleven, as well as news on all other aspects of the club.
