Di Matteo thankful for financial stability

Roberto Di Matteo has spoken about the financial problems facing several English football clubs and said he is pleased that West Bromwich Albion are not in a similar position.

The Italian told BBC Radio West Midlands that the Baggies have managed to avoid building up unmanageable debts because "the club only spend what they earn".

He added: "It's great for the supporters to know that there will always be a club here."

Di Matteo also suggested that the competition in English football would be "more balanced" if all clubs were made to live within their means.

Several teams are currently enduring football finance difficulties, with Crystal Palace entering administration earlier this week and Portsmouth also struggling to balance the books.

West Bromwich Albion could be one of the sides to benefit from the situation at Crystal Palace, as they are believed to have made a bid for the south London outfit's 19-year-old star Victor Moses.
