Crystal Palace enter administration

Crystal Palace could be plunged into a relegation battle after entering administration today (January 26th).

The south London outfit have failed to play their players on time twice this season and Brendon Guilfoyle, Chris White and John Russell of the P&A Partnership confirmed their appointment as administrators this afternoon.

Mr Guilfoyle said that the troubled Championship club had been "in the spotlight for some months" due to financial problems.

"Our role now is to find a buyer quickly to provide certainty for the employees, players and fans for the future," he added.

Clubs are normally handed a ten-point penalty for going into administration, which means that Neil Warnock's side could soon drop from playoff contenders to relegation candidates.

Crystal Palace are currently ninth in the Championship, but would fall to 20th place if the points are docked.

The club has debts of about £30 million and is currently facing a winding-up order from HM Revenue and Customs.
