Platini undecided over UEFA re-election

UEFA president Michel Platini has claimed that he has not yet decided whether to stand for re-election next year.

The 54-year-old, who has now held the presidency of European football's governing body for three years, told France Football magazine that he expects to make his mind up before this summer's FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

"Possibly, maybe, I don't know," he said when asked if he would be a candidate in the March 2011 election.

Platini also reiterated his view that video technology is not the best solution for avoiding controversial incidents in football, such as Thierry Henry's infamous handball in the World Cup qualifying playoff between France and the Republic of Ireland.

"I could say I'm in favour of video, but I don't believe in it at all. Video would kill football," the Frenchman commented.

Platini became UEFA president in January 2007 after beating Lennart Johansson, who had held the post for the previous 17 years, by 27 votes to 23 in Dusseldorf.
